Microsoft: There will be A Halo movie [video]

On the Conference of future of television East, Microsoft's Frank O'Connor to an area that focuses on the Grail of TransMedia sat last week.

Halo's franchise development Director is a highly innovative, stocky man who looks like a feisty Boxer. And he is proud, bordering to arrogant on the series of games which sold so many Xboxes praised."We want Halo on each screen have we to have access," said O'Connor. indeed would be the height of ubiquity.

After the Panel a high network executive came up to O'Connor and said: "We want to do with Halo."

O'Connor shot back, "Bring money pile."

The Executive Branch, baffles, replied, "For Halo, we will."

Moments later, I spoke with O'Connor in a lounge area for the event Conference producers outside NYU's new Stern School of business Auditorium old-fashioned.

The first thing, O'Connor said was "There be a Halo movie."

Yet? after all these years after Peter Jackson as a Director and Denzel Washington as the star still talk?

"Film, the Director, Microsoft wanted everyone a Halo to do the highest placed people at film companies."

So what happened?"It was the lawyers," said O'Connor."When you went behind closed doors with the treaties, things fell apart." O'Connor, said the primary sticking point was the fact that Microsoft owns all rights in Halo, and means, and licensing. "The problem was that the film company make no money on the movie."

Hollywood is populated by a strange breed bean counters and lawyers.O'Connor, said you expect to make money on a movie that bombs at the box office, not only by DVD sales, but also by licensing products with both urgency and occasional aufzugeben.Sie couldn't do with Halo that broke the project grew.

O'Connor is adamant, when he says that Microsoft prominent Director in his or her your own way on a film Halo lights to the happy would allow."If Danny Boyle wants to make a film directed by Danny Boyle style which is great.""Danny Boyle Danny Boyle are to lassen.Wir no Director would limit."

"But might be the smartest place for a Halo project to a network such as Showtime or HBO."We would love to see Halo as a TV series.Look what's HBO with band of brothers or even Rome."Such a thing would work because the Halo universe is so enormous."In a Miniseries or a longer ongoing series depth would one that Halo myth drill - are treated when the writers and directors were enough intelligent fans of to deeper, more explorative narrative.

Then he said again: "a Halo Film.Wir will need no Film.Aber we want a Film.Wir to mothers of players, the films to see because you are dear würde.vielleicht our characters we fund it ourselves."

It makes Sinn.Wenn a group of fans one rather than can than what move below, imagine the possibilities for a Halo movie done right.

Review: Need for speed: hot pursuit is this year's other great racer [video]

Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit promises to return one of the most successful racing video game in history to its roots, delivering an easy to understand, but still deep driving experience to gamers of all kinds... including fans of Mario Kart.

Hot Pursuit is two games in one. Players can take on the role of street racers or the police who chase them, using not just driving skills, but an arsenal of car-stopping technology to win a race or shut one down. Layered on top of the constant cat-and-mouse of illegal street racing and real-world power-ups is a surprisingly robust, surprisingly effective social network that tracks your best races and notifies you the instant a friend has beaten one.

Racing fans who prefer the pleasure and instant gratification of arcade-style racing over the nitty-gritty realism of games like Gran Turismo and Forza Motorsport.

The Need for Speed franchise is the most successful video game racing series in history, but that doesn't mean it can't be improved upon. Criterion Games, the studio that popularized crash-and-burn racing in their Burnout series, brings with them a sense of visceral, over-the-top mayhem that could help introduce a whole new type of gamer to the franchise.

Is this basically the next Burnout game with a Need for Speed name slapped on it? Not exactly. It's closer to the original Need for Speed than it is the Burnout games, opting to find a sweet spot somewhere between simulator and arcade racer. For instance, the game is packed with real world cars, each of which handle differently, but the driving doesn't require the finesse of a game like Gran Turismo. Instead Criterion Games seemed to have concentrated on making the game as instantly accessible as possible without turning it into something you'd expect to play in an arcade. And for the most part they've succeeded.

How do the cars handle? While I would never say they're as touchy as the real thing, it's obvious some care went into making sure that each vehicle behaves a bit like the real thing. Cars at high speeds will rock on their suspension, some feel more back heavy, some handle better on dirt roads than on paved ones. There's a sense of realism in the game's driving, but just a sense.

The game is divided into a police and a racer mode. How does that work? The entire game takes place along the fictional, wonderfully eclectic roads of Seacrest County. The game approaches this top down map as a sort of open world, but to fully explore it you have to take on and win challenges. The challenges are broken down into police and racer events. The game tracks each differently, awarding new cars, new pursuit equipment, new courses and leveling you up separately as a racer and as a police officer.

Players can take photos of their favorite rides in mid race.

How different is being a cop in the game to being a racer? While the driving experience itself is very similar, the challenges, vehicles and pursuit equipment you have are all very different. As a police officer you'll be asked to respond to an emergency call in a given time, while as a racer you may take on a single opponent in a street race. My favorite challenges involve both cops and racers. As a cop you're tasked with shutting down a race by destroying all of the cars participating, as a racer you want to place first. There are also more subtle differences. Cops in the game tend to work together, at least in the campaign. Racers will as soon as take you out as they would a cop. This dichotomy creates two fairly unique experiences.

How does this pursuit equipment you keep talking about work? Think of it as almost-real world versions of the power-ups you might find in Mario Kart... absent the Blue Turtle shell. While cops and racers have access to a couple of similar bits of technology, there's a lot different too. Both cops and racers can drop road spikes behind them or hit a car in front of them with an EMP burst. Only cops can call in a helicopter to zip ahead and drop spikes in front of you. They can also call for assistance from other cops to set up a roadblock. Meanwhile racers get access to a jammer that will block a cop's EMP and prevents police from dropping spikes or calling for help. Finally, racers have a turbo, which is like an industrial version of the nitrous both cops and racers can use. The inclusion of these almost-real, car-stopping weapons helps to both separate the two sorts of experiences, but also makes the races a much more enjoyable experience.

How does the community thing work, the Autolog? While pursuit equipment helps to make the game feel much more adversarial than your typical racer, the inclusion of the Autolog is what helps to separate Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit from the rest. Autolog plugs you in to not only your friends' experiences playing the game, but also actively looks for strangers to match you up with. The second it sees that someone has beaten your best time, or pushed you from your position on the "speed wall" it alerts you. The result is a sort of indirect competition that has you vying with friends and strangers to see who can capture and keep the best time on a particular career challenge. I've spent entire mornings methodically working my way through CheapyD and Fahey's top times to bump them from the wall, only to discover hours later they had done the same to me. It's like passive-aggressive racing.

Is there anyway to compete directly with people? Absolutely, on top of the always present, always watching Autolog, Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit has three more traditional forms of competitive play. Interceptor pits one cop versus one racer in a drive across the county. Online race is a straight-up, classic race. Hot Pursuit splits players into two teams, cops and racers, and has you racing to see if you can either stop the racers or cross the finish line. The mode adds a neat twist by rewarding the entire winning team. This leads to some neat group efforts, to make sure your team wins.

Is there anything you didn't like about the game? There's a lot to love about Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit, a lot to recommend it. But there are a few things that nagged at me a bit. I'm not a fan of how much like car advertisements the introduction of each vehicle feels. I also hate that the game comes with a single-use "online pass." That means you won't be lending this game to family members or friends with a different console, if you want them to be able to play online. And used purchases will require the gamer to buy the pass separately. I know this is a growing trend among many developers and publishers, but I still don't like it.

While Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit will likely leave the milling crowds anxious to play Gran Turismo 5 cold, it's the perfect sort of racer for everyone else. Criterion Games worked the best bits of a nail-biting Mario Kart race in with the metal-twisting, cuss-inducing crashes of Burnout and came up with something that's a blast to play, win or lose. The extra hook of the constant back-and-forth oneupmanship of friends easily makes this my favorite racer of the year.

Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit was developed by Criterion Games and published by Electronic Arts for the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360, released on Nov. 16. Retails for $59.95. Kotaku purchased a copy of the game for reviewing purposes. Played through to level six police officer and rank six racer on the Xbox 360. Played quite a few matches online both in multiplayer matches and to topple folks from the speed wall.

on Xbox Live users to professional recently banhammer wielder twin blades, Stephen Toulouse inquired whether he could use a swastika as his call of duty: black ops emblem that responded Toulouse, "no, of course, you can not, we will prohibit." Apparently, this sparked quite a reaction of players, the exchanges, the witnesses that the use of a swastika as a symbol, widely used that to defend several Eastern religions throughout. In a post on his personal blog, Toulouse, explains why this argument to hold much water with the Xbox Live moderator crew.

"" "Let us be clear: no educated person on the planet... sees the swastika symbol and says"oh, the icon has nothing at all in any way to do with global genocide of an entire race,"" Toulouse explained, "", and even if it did, you should fully and reasonably ignore, because it is a symbol that has been stolen or Coop Ted of religions. ""He adds to succinctly: "If you think the swastika symbol should be reevaluated by companies all over the world, I think the big ist.Ihr Xbox Live profile or the game logo that explaining your goal does not have the context is not the place to do."

We know that every time we see that someone to use the swastika as their identifiers on an online game is our first thought, "Oh, how nice you for a global reassessment of the meaning of the swastika urges are."How is that only the healthy sense, isn't it?

Scott Macmillian is an indie game developer in Boston, one of the organizers of the chapter IDGA up there, one made seemingly insurmountable goal: make fun Facebook game. Yes, despite the fact that Facebook Games are in dough roles provide none of you much gameplay on a lot of cow-click, and so Macmillian's macguffin is games while trying to change all that with a game called mustache of mercenaries cast of giant robots and historical figures.

Intrigued? The patch changes world of Warcraft forever [Blizzard]

In two weeks of world of Warcraft gets Goblin, Worgs and a healthy dose of high content, but first the world must die. WoW speaks lead systems designer Greg Street through the rebirth of Azeroth's come in tomorrow massive patch.

Street makes completely clear a point: world of Warcraft: cataclysm is not the expansion pack that the face of world of Warcraft brings ändert.Cataclysm two new playable races, a level Cap increase of 80 to 85 and many high content for players of the popular massively multiplayer online role-playing game to those five levels to spend.

It's a big deal, but it's not the end of the world. This is done tonight.

I spoke with Street last week and was at the time of the status on the last major content patch before the release of cataclysm "Soon (TM)." Now are rumblings of Deathwing ruinous come shake the entire planet, and players are predatory on servers at the end of days witnesses.

"First thing players see when you log in after the patch Deathwing cinematic arrival", explains Street.Ereignisse in the game have building this moment for weeks, and the film will usher in a new era for Azeroth. "Deathwing has arrived devastation Azeroth.""The world verändert.Hoffentlich is absolutely we will have moved everyone to a safe location."

What happens tomorrow? The South East Cape will be reborn. The Goblin and the Worgs make itself known during the countries, although players wait for December 7, will have to play you.

Each main area has been redesigned. The trolls and gnome start into new areas."Let there be an excellent time to start you've always wanted to old," says Street.Es is the day when combinations of class and race are relaxed. Want to be a human hunters? now is your chance.Do you die to play a GNOME priest? There is something wrong with you but okay! knock yourself out.

It is a great day for world of Warcraft artist and be.Will leave saying of art have with each new expansion pack had to leave.

"An artist is a tree in Northrend (wrath of the Lich King's) and then going back to (the original game zone) Westfall thinks 'I may be so much better than that,'" explains Street. This is more than a chance for players to have new experiences in older zones; it is an opportunity for artists, bring the old world up to date but apply what you learned in the nearly six years since world of Warcraft first released.

It is also a chance to change the way, the game works.Player characters now get past define class talents. In the ancient game a player would spend many levels earn the talents giving your build definiert.Jetzt protection Warrior feels like a protection Warrior level 10 and a shadow priest he can get a head start to everyone is amazing bragging.

"There's a lot here for new players, current – there is plenty for everyone," said Street mir.Er says cataclysm have really two massive extensions in an obsolete.you to explore two new playable races, along with five other levels and tons of new content this tag world, free of charge and then 7 coming in December.

So, what should you do if you sign up tomorrow in world of Warcraft? Erkunden.Besuchen you these older zones where you never got much time in the spent haben.Silberwald, Azshara; Street says one of the main reasons for updating was finally those boring zones to make more interesting.

With Blizzard before recently giving lapsed players free week come back and see what has changed, there is not to show no excuse for the fireworks.

After all, as street puts it, "this is the patch that changed the world of Warcraft forever."Can you can very well that now Miss?

NEW fallout MMO info surfaces – actually tells us something

Another cryptic email about the fallout MMO is arrived by interplay - but this time it's actually some solid information within it.

The first real news is that Ghouls (duh?) were announced as a playable race

Ghouls are the first announced playable race fallout ® online. As there are people many different types of the undead, and not all are pacifist or weakling the Sterotypical. Ghouls get bonuses for trade and engineering skills.Enjoy fixing broken technology more than most of the survivors in the wastelands, however, that do not prevent that you have away dangerous enemies in the Kampf.Ghouls high radiation resistance and slightly better than normal intelligence.Their equipment tend to be in better condition than other breeds, but that is not always true.

Ghouls begin two racial abilities: complaint Department and violinist Gezählt.Ghouls have two unique racial of traits, added to the available pool: Radiant one and tech wizard.

All of this information approved a PIP pad - completely is an apocalyptic pseudo 1950's post version of the iPad comes with friendly. :-)

To read a lot in this edition of the Armageddon rag - read the whole thing here.

BUT THAT'S NOT ALL

Car deeper in the forums interplay's Chris Taylor (the guy who created fallout 1) explains the combat system and Guild within the game. (Thanks to NMA via The Vault Wiki for this posting)

Chris Taylor about the battle system:

We try to read as much as possible but lately it hard to keep up with everything! ^_^

Some things are pretty locked, like the Kampfsystem.Wir had a strong concept for the combat system from the outset. It is not FO1/2, and it is not VATS.It is a special based system that works in a MMO environment. You can tell it's specifically for uns.Wir skill certainly never for it for a FPS or pure Shooter.Charakter and statistics are very important for the Kampfsystem.Wahrscheinlich 50% of the equation.Character gear players skill, decision making and timing to make the other half.

As I said in the past, what gets said here affects us, of course, but we have a strong vision for the game, so we not rewrite are there based what we read.

There was more than a few moments where has this forum recognize us, that something is missing was made (hey, it's a great game design, there are gaps here and there) or we could tweak it one way or another because we fully design had this feature.

We have our own strong idea of what the game should be, and we are confident that in our skills and experience as a game Entwickler.Aber means not we for the community heard. frankly, I would say, however, that it is very difficult for the community to understand the game as a whole at this stage. When we discuss the game, rather than us and people a chance have to play with beta testing in theory, it will be better for everyone.

And guilds:

I saw a post or two on the designation of "Guilds", and in the hope of something else as "Guild" as a player-based social group name.

Well, we have versucht.Intern, we called something anderes.Wir set wiki pages for the new name, all references in the design docs uses the new name etc …and we kept you as guilds reference, if we had a discussion.

Finally we given in.Wenn people mention guilds are we could support as we.

Our "guilds" are Gilden.JAR, it is not entirely appropriate ("Faction" is reserved for something else, and "Blankity empty empty" name we have attempting to use people was stolen from another part of the design and co-opted to do something else), but it is what everyone uses.(1)

1. Geek op-ed piece: It irks me when a paper and pencil RPG calls the DM something besides DM, if fantasy or GM überhaupt.Ein GM is a GM.Es is no goal or a storyteller a HPIC or what is also immer.Es a GM.

So, we have learned what here today? Ghouls are a playable race - is it giant shrimp are monster - the battle 1 / 2 or 3 - like fallout and guilds will, of course.

It's not much but it is better than nothing.

Stay tuned to RipTen, as this story in the Apocalypse unfolds.

NVIDIA blogs about image quality vs. AMD - says you have ' em beat

Translate Request has too much data Parameter name: request Translate Request has too much data Parameter name: request

Did you know Nvidia had a blog?  Me neither.  Well apparently they do and they’re using it to take direct aim at rival AMD.

To sum up the long blog post you could very well read the end of it which states:

We believe our customers would rather we focus our resources to maximize performance and provide an awesome, immersive gaming experience without compromising image quality, than engage in a race to the IQ (Image Quality) gutter with AMD.

The blog post was written by Nick Stam – the Technical Marketing Director for Nvidia.  It goes into great detail about AMD seems to be making compromises and how many unbiased reviews have backed up that claim:

PC gaming enthusiasts understand image quality (IQ) is a critical part of the PC gaming experience. They frequently upgrade their GPUs to play the latest games at high frame rates, while also dialing up the display resolution and graphical IQ effects to make their games both look and play great. Image quality is important, and if it were not important, we’d all be playing at 10×7 with no AA!

Important Benchmarking Issues and Questionable Optimizations
We are writing this blog post to bring broader attention to some very important image quality findings uncovered recently by top technology Web sites including ComputerBase, PC Games Hardware, Tweak PC, and 3DCenter.org. They all found that changes introduced in AMD’s Catalyst 10.10 default driver settings caused an increase in performance and a decrease in image quality. These changes in AMD’s default settings do not permit a fair apples-to-apples comparison to NVIDIA default driver settings. NVIDIA GPUs provide higher image quality at default driver settings, which means comparative AMD vs. NVIDIA testing methods need to be adjusted to compensate for the image quality differences.

What Editors Discovered
Getting directly to the point, major German Tech Websites ComputerBase and PC Games Hardware (PCGH) both report that they must use the “High” Catalyst AI texture filtering setting for AMD 6000 series GPUs instead of the default “Quality” setting in order to provide image quality that comes close to NVIDIA’s default texture filtering setting. 3DCenter.org has a similar story, as does TweakPC. The behavior was verified in many game scenarios. AMD obtains up to a 10% performance advantage by lowering their default texture filtering quality according to ComputerBase.

AMD’s optimizations weren’t limited to the Radeon 6800 series. According to the review sites, AMD also lowered the default AF quality of the HD 5800 series when using the Catalyst 10.10 drivers, such that users must disable Catalyst AI altogether to get default image quality closer to NVIDIA’s “default” driver settings.

Going forward, ComputerBase and PCGH both said they would test AMD 6800 series boards with Cat AI set to ”High”, not the default “Quality” mode, and they would disable Cat AI entirely for 5800 series boards (based on their findings, other 5000 series boards do not appear to be affected by the driver change).

We have had internal discussions as to whether we should forego our position to not reduce image quality behind your back as AMD is doing.  We believe our customers would rather we focus our resources to maximize performance and provide an awesome, immersive gaming experience without compromising image quality, than engage in a race to the IQ gutter with AMD.

Filter Tester Observations
Readers can observe AMD GPU texture shimmering very visibly in videos posted at TweakPC. The popular Filter Tester application from 3DCenter.org was used with its “ground2” texture (located in the Program Files/3DCenter Filter Tester/Textures directory), and texture movement parameters were set to -0.7 in both X and Y directions with 16xAF enabled. Each video shows the split-screen rendering mode of the Filter Tester application, where the GPU under test is on the left side, and the “perfect” software-based ALU rendering is on the right side. (Playing the videos with Firefox or Google Chrome is recommended). NVIDIA GPU anisotropic quality was also tested and more closely resembles the perfect ALU software-based filtering. Problems with AMD AF filtering are best seen when the textures are in motion, not in static AF tests, thus the “texture movement” settings need to be turned on in the Filter Tester. In our own testing with Filter Tester using similar parameters, we have seen that the newly released Catalyst 10.11 driver also has the same texture shimmering problems on the HD 5870. Cat 10.11 does not work with HD 6000 series boards as of this writing.

AF Tester Observations
ComputerBase also says that AMD drivers appear to treat games differently than the popular “AF Tester” (anisotropic filtering) benchmark tool from 3DCenter.org. They indicate that lower quality anisotropic filtering is used in actual games, but higher quality anisotropic filtering is displayed when the AF Tester tool is detected and run. Essentially, the anisotropic filtering quality highlighted by the AF Tester tool on AMD GPUs is not indicative of the lower quality of anisotropic filtering seen in real games on AMD GPUs.

NVIDIA’s own driver team has verified specific behaviors in AMD’s drivers that tend to affect certain anisotropic testing tools. Specifically, AMD drivers appear to disable texture filtering optimizations when smaller window sizes are detected, like the AF Tester tool uses, and they enable their optimizations for larger window sizes. The definition of “larger” and “smaller” varies depending on the API and hardware used. For example with DX10 and 68xx boards, it seems they disable optimizations with window sizes smaller than 500 pixels on a side. For DX9 apps like the AF Tester, the limit is higher, on the order of 1000 pixels per side. Our driver team also noticed that the optimizations are more aggressive on RV840/940 than RV870, with optimizations performed across a larger range of LODs for the RV840/940.

FP16 Render Observations
In addition to the above recent findings, for months AMD had been performing a background optimization for certain DX9 applications where FP16 render targets are demoted to R11G11B10 render targets, which are half the size and less accurate. When recently exposed publically, AMD finally provided a user visible control panel setting to enable/disable, but the demotion is enabled by default.  Reviewers and users testing DX9 applications such as Need for Speed Shift or Dawn of War 2, should uncheck the “Enable Surface Format Optimization” checkbox in the Catalyst AI settings area of the AMD control panel to turn off FP16 demotion when conducting comparative performance testing.

A Long and Winding Road
For those with long memories, NVIDIA learned some hard lessons with some GeForce FX and 3DMark03 optimization gone bad, and vowed to never again perform any optimizations that could compromise image quality.  During that time, the industry agreed that any optimization that improved performance, but did not alter IQ, was in fact a valid “optimization”, and any optimization that improved performance but lowered IQ, without letting the user know, was a “cheat”.  Special-casing of testing tools should also be considered a “cheat”.

Both NVIDIA and AMD provide various control panel knobs to tune and tweak image quality parameters, but there are some important differences — NVIDIA strives to deliver excellent IQ at default control panel settings, while also ensuring the user experiences the image quality intended by the game developer. NVIDIA will not hide optimizations that trade off image quality to obtain faster frame rates. Similarly, with each new driver release, NVIDIA will not reduce the quality of default IQ settings, unlike what appears to be happening with our competitor, per the stories recently published.

We are glad that multiple top tech sites have published their comparative IQ findings. If NVIDIA published such information on our own, without third-party validation, much of the review and technical community might just ignore it. A key goal in this blog is not to point out cheats or “false optimizations” in our competitor’s drivers. Rather it is to get everyone to take a closer look at AMD’s image quality in games, and fairly test our products versus AMD products. We also want people to beware of using certain anisotropic testing tools with AMD boards, as you will not get image quality results that correspond with game behavior.

AMD promotes “no compromise” enthusiast graphics, but it seems multiple reviewers beg to differ.

What remains to be seen is if AMD will write up a counter-blog.  We doubt it.  :-)

"It is a Halo film," says Microsoft's Frank O'Connor

Microsoft's Frank O'Connor has said it, and is, say it again: "Be a Halo movie."

The rich and vast universe of Halo long discussed over whether or not it should appear as a full-motion feature.Ask every gamer and the answer is pretty obvious but for the rest, it is explained not while O'Connor, that "film, the Director, Microsoft, the highest placed people at film companies, wanted to do a Halo everyone" he mentioned also the reason why the project "fell apart."

"The lawyers," said O'Connor. "If you went behind closed doors with the treaties, things fell apart," adding that on the basis of Microsoft have all rights to the franchise, including licensing, "The problem was that the film company make no money on the movie."

While the obvious thing to do would be to make a film based on the game, history taught once again and the consequences do us, which is why a O'Connor alternative;offered a Halo TV series.

"We'd love Halo as a TV series to sehen.Schauen, what HBO with band of brothers or even Rome hat.So something would work because the Halo universe is so enormous."

So, Halo movie or TV series Halo what you say?

Motion controllers have a long way since the days of a light gun on a TV show come. Hunt started early human interaction with video games with duck, but this is not A Christmas story. Fortunately no human eyes out has been made, but frustrated for players with their Wiimotes, the reports of damaged screens must be something like an urban legend.

GED Egan, a gaming research specialist for TNS technology examines the potential of the motion controller for MCV.Er believes that these controllers are paving a way for social gaming.

After the Wii success with built-in games can each wave their staff like Harry Potter or play Lightsaber.Es is only recently that Sony and Microsoft is finally to suit.

"While broader appeal offers real potential for the gaming industry and console development, manufacturers must ensure alienate not gaming enthusiasts whose Bedürfnisse does not meet these new technologies," notes Egan.

As is true as this statement is what these companies need to do to win new players may have to advertise the fact that is virtual reality here. Who has seen Star Trek: the next generation must for the day, if holodeck technology becomes reality yearning people can part of experience treat to simulate a device as become part of it.

Nintendo came with the power glove 1989 to close. It failed because it involved directly with the development.

There is very little difference between what now as a motion-tracking device is then available. And at least with the glove it not go fly out the window or destruction by expensive 60? TV screen.

You have resolved the Wiimote into a glove for some good old old-fashioned hands free gaming.

Microsoft hit on this idea with Kinect.Your device is a projected grid of infrared radiation used to determine where the user "in the grid."To the movements such as Michael Jackson and their avatar have these movements into play new erstellen.Jetzt combine that with a single glove for some more precision, soon can be "Jacking in" a holodeck type 3D TV is old.

"Kinect wants all the barriers to gaming to break" Egan notes, "[but] as products increasingly complex, it is harder for consumers to visualize what this latest offer and how to improve your gaming experience can."

Fortunately, if Microsoft's product proves successful, Windows may 8 potentially very smooth as a new way to use integration with the desktop View1 have plans to expand, further use Kinect can vary, rumors say it will be in the next OS upgrade.

Five ways that Windows Mobile 7 series mobile gaming will change

After numerous delays and the worrying news that it won’t be backwardly compatible, Microsoft is finally ready to deliver Windows Phone 7 Series. But what does that mean to mobile gaming?

We’d almost got to the point where we didn’t expect to see Windows Phone 7 Series, after it was repeatedly delayed and Microsoft seemed to be more interested in its Zune HD device. But Windows Phone 7 Series stole the show at this year’s Mobile World Congress, and for good reason.

It finally looks as though Microsoft is back in the running for the smartphone throne, with a superb feature list that’s got developers as excited as users.

Xbox Live
It’s about time Microsoft began to unify its technologies, and it looks as though Windows Phone 7 Series is likely to be the nexus point. Xbox Live has established itself as a hub for Microsoft gamers, who use the online resource as a social network every bit as much as a game download store.

Harnessing the Xbox Live infrastructure will be a powerful tool for Windows Phone 7 Series. Linking up to the achievements system, as well as established friend networks, gaming communities, news and information while on the go is the kind of feature that could sway a smartphone buyer’s decision.

Details are a bit thin on the ground at the moment, but our fingers are crossed that we might even get some cross-platform gaming going on, which isn’t entirely unreasonable when you consider the kind of hardware likely to be sporting the new Windows Phone 7 Series.

Next-gen hardware
Even though Windows Mobile 6.x has struggled to keep up with the likes of Android and iPhone, hardware manufacturers have continued to turn to Microsoft’s smartphone stalwart when they wanted something reliable and supported. However, HTC has been veering wildly toward Android of late, though even a superficial glance at Windows Phone 7 Series has prompted the premier smartphone designer to reaffirm its support for Microsoft.

This is coupled with The Vole’s ultra-strict hardware requirements, which will demand all devices have a minimum processor speed (currently pegged as Qualcomm’s Snapdragon powerhouse), a multi-touch display, three hardware buttons, digital compass, accelerometer and an 800×480 pixel fixed ratio screen (and OEMs can include a slideout Qwerty if they wish).

This might sound overly strict, but it’s actually very important as it will help Microsoft avoid the hardware fragmentation that’s plagued Java, and is currently threatening Android.

Microsoft Games Studio
Microsoft’s internal, first party game studio might not churn out games at a rate of knots, but it’s well known for producing some seriously top quality games. With the right hardware bubbling beneath the screen, Xbox Live integration could easily see enhanced support from the company’s dedicated roster of AAA titles.

Alan Wake, Crackdown, Dead Rising, Fable 2 (and 3), Gears of War, Ninety-Nine Nights, Perfect Dark Zero, Project Gotham Racing, Saints Row and, of course, Halo 3 are all games that aren’t likely to appear on any other systems, yet could provide a backbone for cross-platform gaming between Microsoft’s living room console and its new line of hard-hitting smartphones.

Windows Marketplace
As much as Windows Phone 7 Series is apparently not backwardly compatible, it seems this isn’t a hard and fast rule. Some software is still expected to work, so right from the outset there’s going to be a wealth of smaller, more basic smartphone applications and games waiting for the new Windows-based handsets.

But Microsoft is looking more at establishing Series 7 in its own right, and has already prepared a revamped Marketplace designed from scratch to present its hot new mobile games. This app store appears to be built very much around its slick new user interface, which not only makes access to its games easy, but very attractive.

Already Microsoft is insisting it’ll be targeting quality and not quantity when it comes to populating this new marketplace, which is certainly no bad thing – so long as there’s still a decent quantity of quality games on there, of course.

Zune HD
During the lull before the Windows Phone 7 Series storm, we started believing Microsoft was more interested in the Zune HD than smartphones, though the iPod touch-killer didn’t really seem to gain much traction either. Rumours filtered out about the possibility of a Zune HD phone, and while that’s not quite the angle that Microsoft has taken, it appears it’s not far from the truth.

Instead, it’s Windows Phone 7 Series that looks set to absorb the Zune HD, and that’s exciting for a number of reasons. Firstly, the Windows Phone 7 Series hardware requirements are considerably higher than Zune HD’s, and secondly the media player has –albeit briefly – shown its gaming potential.

The Zune multimedia delivery system has been confirmed for inclusion in WinMo7 (just as it has with the Xbox 360) but the Zune name carries a lot more promise than just music and videos. For one thing, it could well be these smartphones that deliver the Zune HD (in disguise) to the rest of the world, and offer up a far more console-like gaming experience for Microsoft’s new gaming-on-the-go visage.

Kirby's epic yarn review.

Kirby's epic yarn is a game for old and new fans alike. As far as the story goes, it could have been much more detail oriented. Strolling through dream country spots Kirby, what appears to be a strange tomatoes and decides to eat it. However, belonged to the tomato, revealed a "Metamato" named Yin yarn to be an evil wizard, is angry at Kirby and sucks him into the magic sock around his waist. Kirby ends in the patch country where everything, including yourself, yarn is produced, render useless its normal powers, as inhalation something air would simply pass through his body. Kirby saves young Prince named fluff from an enemy with the Metamato's powers to transform. Fluff explains that yin yarn has separated the various patches make patch country. Need find the seven pieces of magic yarn, tie up the patches, Kirby, the pure creature who he is, decides to help restore fluff patch country and Yin yarn to defeat.  As many may know, is the story in a Kirby game usually short and easy. And that's fine, as this game has a lot of things for you. How amazing is this game is to talk about something I can wait no longer. I think this is the best looking on the Wii to date the games. Each level is filled with detail and diversity. Away moves everything and respond (environment and enemies alike), visual is eye candy. Now the controls are simple gameplay wise men, and work well. Although sometimes can be a bit slow. I found this game quite simple. I never once lost. I'm not sure if you can lose even at a level as far as I know honestly. But despite the easy difficulty I had a blast to play this game. The soundtrack for the game is what one would expect from a Kirby game. It is optimistic and catchy. There are lots of new melodies, which you probably addicted to get quickly. Also, each level of the sound design gets really into it. I will say something, not too much as to betray but remade it a good amount of well known songs. Certainly not least, like all games in the series is to collect a huge amount of things. All of you folks out there that the challenge games will love 100% feel at home. The fact that you have collected everything you can and make many different types of rooms with all, it is really fun. I've been experimenting and it is pretty deep for an extra game. And of course can post pictures of your room on the Wii message board. All in all Kirby's epic yarn is a fun way to spend time with your Wii. (Or a friend co op play)

Lorne Lanning laments ' the brutal Ballad of Fangus Klot' was the never

by on November 22nd 2010 5: 30 PM

Game Informer posted has his recent print interview with Oddworld inhabitants founder Lorne Lanning, a (5 years later) followup of the Magazine April 2005 announcement of the brutal Ballad of Fangus Klot, OWI's wannabe try diving, a "hardcore" elements of the Oddworld... more world.

After the situation with EA (published OWI's Oddworld: stranger's wrath on Xbox in 2005) "impractical," recounted Lanning, OWI turned to finance and publish the Fangus project a different Xbox game built on stranger's core framework."But only a month after the game's announcement,"Began the shenanigans"and OWI his Development Studio shutdown.""Sometimes released developer of publishers and sometimes developers fire publishers," said Lanning coyly, "and that's all probably, I should say about you."

Publisher "Incompetence" aside, Fangus sound like an odd pitch: a "close to the Earth" - dog man Shepherd enabled "Pit fighting" Sklave-— to the Russian-like cat mafia-escapes his long detention of a hardened killer dead on revenge and the liberation of his people set ("the timeless mythical battle between cats and dogs" in other words) .even Fangus has terminal rabies and "would control a herd of sheep-like ravenous creatures to take down enemies and solve puzzles," according to GIS description. "We wanted to be really hardcore," concluded Lanning.

What sounds pretty much not always a such simple sale on the mainstream market as an amazing game concept is us. It is no stretch of the imagination why this stretch-of-the-imagination never much after the blueprint phase made it. Not that Fangus is just a memory, but Oddworld inhabitants has learned his lesson. "[We] are not focused history to do more games in this way," said Lanning."This does not mean that we would license the property to another developer not whom very good story Spiele.Aber we are aiming for a different kind of chemistry all together."We are looking for more where social gaming and networking is in conflict."We are looking sales instead of $60 of the product more on free-to-play item."

"After is"blown"through the inclusion of his back catalogue on steam, OWI developers just add water to remake stranger's wrath for PSN enabled. Moreover, OWI seems be supported in a freemium-based development of Oddworld, micro payments from dedicated players search.""" Our focus is not too big to build history games,"said Lanning.""Our focus is to build myth really rich, where people get to engage in your own story and that sounds abstrakte-- I can't say much more about you, but that's where we believe that things zusteuern. So that the idea of building an other stranger for us is personal, not even on our radar."

Microsoft banning swastika users in call of duty: black OPS

Despite call of duty: Black ops to support users created icons for use in your game Microsoft will prohibit you to use something vicious.  Yet, when it comes to user created content, it is those who have the limits of course.

Although games for decades played gamers war with Nazis in them, Microsoft, is using the symbol, as your personal logo is wrong.Xbox Live policy and enforcement Director Stephen Toulouse said that everyone reported that excluded is wird.Meine icon for the service the prohibition not permanent, but no specific amount of time given.

"" If you think the swastika symbol should be reevaluated by companies all over the world I think that is great,"wrote Toulouse on his personal blog."Your Xbox Live profile or in-game logo that explaining your destination do not have the context, is not the place to do. "It's not political correctness, it is basic respect."

Toulouse was bombed with comments on Twitter, try to convince him otherwise.  Many argued that if the symbol is in the game, and zombie mode is why it can be used in multiplayer mode? Of course, alter this argument.

The answer is simple. There is a difference with a historical Act and a custom of multiplayer Atmosphäre.Nazis with clothing and flags with a swastika is fact.A 14-year-old Justin Beiber soundalike having a swastika as its user-defined symbol because he either don't understand or just wants to see it as a Act of hatred is different. In fact, it is erbärmlich.Um not to mention that if you sign up and agree terms with Xbox Live, you have agreed to play by your rules.

"I know the icons might show in play, but this is content that you know that you get because it content is rated ist.Es there as part of the experience, not a Anweisung.Verwenden it as your logo is different."

"Yes, we can have the discussion in other places on the double meaning of different terms does something my team every Tag.Aber for many topics, it's kind of a no-brainer."
