Reader discussion: is "keep a good thing with your roots"?

Before recently (as in today), Ubisoft released its third installment in the beloved "Assassin's creed" franchise, "assassin's creed: brotherhood". The version was very positive reviews graced. Although a certain argument about the game is created, it is that a good thing with the same formula glue? Brotherhood of formula for borrowing the same mechanics (game, protagonist) than its predecessor was both advantages and disadvantages side of various examinations.

After the success of "assassin's creed 2. 5?, both with a limit 1 year target date for the brotherhood's release, both factors why Ubisoft holds are necessary, would stick with the same formula."But some skepticism in this method may, that Ubisoft another game on the market is simply noise, while people from Assassin's creed 2 are salivating; and therefore interested in only sales figures instead of a title that is worthy of the Ubisoft brand.

Another recent game in connection with this method is Treyarch's "call of duty: Black Ops". Black had the cushion OPS simply to the "call of duty" brand name, thanks to milestone sales of "Modern warfare 2. 5?."drive and although the game was developed and improved, from the previous iteration it was even necessary? had black ops a better game if Treyarch gone in a completely new direction? Or just stick to the same formula as MW2.

Even a game like "fallout new Vegas", a very loyal fan base, has put the same formula as its predecessor (Fallout 3).Game mechanics (for the most part) to remain unchanged, the overall look and feel last are very nostalgic and reminiscent of the fallout game be released.A game like new Vegas would be a better game if the developers had pulled a "180? and re-wrote your strategy for developing a game?"

Always this strategy "Cling to your roots" becomes more and more to the trend in the video game industry, the question arises, you as a gamer like or not like this method of development? believe that these sequels bloated re-releases of the previous games are simple and make off the creativity and passion of video game take? or you're a fan of this "sticking - with the formula" strategy, and believe, on earlier successes is in fact of the key to success?
